Message from the CINGO Committee Rights of persons who are migrants

FECRIS is a member of the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe, since 2005.
As such, it participates in the work of the Committees working within the Conference.
As a representative of the civil society and of the monitoring that FECRIS carries out on the level of the violations of fundamental freedoms, FECRIS wishes to echo the work carried out by the «Committee on the rights of migrants». FECRIS remains vigilant with regard to the entry of cult groups into the humanitarian field and the exercise of abusive powers which are hidden behind essential freedoms which are themselves sometimes used in the name of belief groups.

Dear members,

During the General Assembly of the Conference of INGOs of the Council of Europe, which took place on 5 and 6 April, the «Migrants’ Rights Committee» presented a provisional assessment of its actions within the Conference.

The situation of people fleeing the Ukrainian conflict was widely discussed in a concrete manner. More broadly, a brief presentation was made of the summary of the responses to the questionnaire that you received during the first quarter of 2022. This global analysis of the situation of INGOs and migrants is now completed and can be found on the conference website (link).

In addition, to facilitate communication between the INGOs of the Conference and so that each of them can present the «Migrant Workers’ Rights Committee» to its national or local NGOs, a document for the general public illustrated with a few testimonies and photos has just been drafted. It is available as an attachment in English and French. Do not hesitate to distribute it.

The «Migrants’ Rights Committee» continues to be vigilant on the migration situation in Europe and is ready to receive any comments and/or proposals from the INGOs members of the Conference.

We wish all of you a nice summer while not forgetting that the rights of migrants are defended every month of the year, in particular thanks to the Civil Society that we represent for a large part!

The Migrant’s Rights Committee
